RSS Made Simple
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's an
easy way to keep up with news and information
that's important to you, while avoiding the time-
consuming conventional methods of searching
for information on websites.
With RSS, you can see when sites from all over
the Internet have added new content. You can get
the latest headlines and articles – even links to
photos or video clips – as soon as they are
published, without having to remember to visit
each site.
The information generated by RSS is called a
"feed." Each feed consists of a headline, a short
description and a link back to the full story at the
publishing site.
RSS is used worldwide for a variety of data,
including headline and financial news, weather
reports, sport scores, marketing, blog updates,
and even jokes, to name a few. RSS is quickly
becoming the preferred distribution method for
information, easily providing users with the
hottest “tips,” customized to their individual
interests.
How does Mister Tipster work?
By using a separate desktop display that plugs
into your computer via USB, Mister Tipster allows
you to use your full computer screen while also
monitoring RSS feeds. So if you’re a news junkie,
sports fanatic, weather geek or financial whiz, you
can stay up-to-date on all the latest information
without using up valuable real estate on your
computer’s monitor. You can now maximize that
spreadsheet, document, browser or game, and
still read your headlines.
When a headline on the desktop display catches
your interest, you’re only two clicks away from
reading the full story. The simple Mister Tipster
software installed on your computer allows you to
click on a headline to see more information about
the story, or click again to have your default
Internet browser automatically load the full story
from the publisher’s website. You can even have
Mister Tipster notify you when certain words or
phrases are detected in headline text.
Best of all, you get to choose for yourself which
RSS feeds are displayed by your Mister Tipster by
using the software to sign up for feeds from your
favorite websites. And if you’re in the market for a
little advice, Mister Tipster can even connect you
to a list of popular feeds to choose from.
